Members of the Tamil Film industry are on a one-day token fast in Chennai, protesting against the Sri Lankan government and the Army's atrocities on the Tamils there. Superstar Rajinikanth also showed up in solidarity, along with other stars from the Tamil film industry.
The industry is demanding an international probe into alleged war crimes against Tamils in Sri Lanka. Kamal Haasan also joined the protests later in the day.
Film activity in Tamil Nadu came to a standstill as artistes, directors, producers, distributors and exhibitors participated in the hunger-strike being held at the premises of South Indian Film Artists' Association in Chennai.
